Man and the Nature Park

Gadertal
Viles (Gadertal)A series of villages of the Gader Valley are intensively developed skiing localities and have basically become hotel-towns. Wengen has retained some of its traditionally agricultural character and is the only Rhaetian village not to have its own skiing infrastructures. Its characteristic hamlets with their traditional wooden buildings are spread over the extended sunny slope of this village. St. Vigil in Enneberg has developed into a great tourists' center. Bauernhaus (Gadertal)Through its cable railway and ski slopes it is connected to the winter sport area of Kronplatz. The traditional "Viles", spread over the whole mountain slope, and the old town of Enneberg-Pfarre/La Pli, the ancient stone-buildings of which once had important public functions, stand in strong contrast to the modern developed area of the village. In St. Vigil there is also the main entrance to the heart-piece of the nature park: the valley Rautal/Val de Tàmersc. It is a small valley, sided by high rock faces and leading to Pederü.
Pustertal
The sulphur and iron springs of the mineral spring Bad Bergfall originate from bellerophon and quartz phyllite layers. Bad Bergfall was an appreciated health resort already in ancient times. On an old painting in its chapel, the medical indications are listed. They include hip pain, sciatica, arthritis and gout, as well as blood diseases and gynecological problems. On the mountain slope above Welsberg the mineral spring of Waldbrunn, which originates from quartz phyllite rocks, was also known for its medicinal benefits.

In summer, stinking car queues can be seen in the Prags Valley. Pragser WildseeThey are all directed to Pragser Wildsee, a romantic mountain lake situated in a wild rock basin. Pragser Wildsee is regarded as one of the most impressive lakes of the Dolomites.
Another beautiful spot in the Pustertal area is Plätzwiese, which once risked the same destiny as Seiser Alm. Ski lifts, tennis courts, a tourist area and big car parks were already in planning. The place was saved at the last minute by the institution of the nature park.
