Suggestion 1: Capanna Alpina (1,726 m) - Col de Locia (2,069 m) - Groß-Fanes (2,104 m) - Limosee (2,159 m) - Faneshütte (2,060 m) - Piciodelsee (1,820 m) - Perderühütte (1,548 m)
Map to the suggestion From St. Kassian in Abteital we take the road which leads to the Valparola pass and reach the fork-off to "Capanna Alpina" after about 3 kilometers. From here we choose the trail which leads around the right side of the gravel pit to Capanna Alpina. We follow trail n. 11 through the spruce forests and the small meadows of Plan de Furcia. From there, the trail becomes steeper and leads to Col de Locia (2,069 m). The following part of our tour leads through the hollow between the rock faces of the Fanes and Camperstrin group on one side and the Les Conturines on the other. It takes us to Ju dell'Egna. After about 3 hours of walk through the pastures we reach the refuge Faneshütte. Then we ascend the gentle slope to the Limo Lake , a marvelous mountain lake. Limojoch is the highest point of this interesting tour. After descending to Faneshütte, trail n. 7 leads down to the the Piciodel Lake . We conclude our tour with the steep descent to Pederühütte in the valley Rautal.

Walking time: 6 - 7 hours
Difference in altitude: 500 m
Difficulty: easy

Suggestion 2: Pragser Wildsee Hotel (1,520 m) - Alte Kaser (1,751 m) - Hochalpenhütten (2,114 m) - Hochalpensee (2,252 m) - Pragser Wildsee Hotel (1,520 m)
Map to the suggestion The starting point for this tour is the famous lake Pragser Wildsee which can be reached by bus from Toblach and Niederdorf. We walk around the western shore of the lake and then take trail n. 19 on our right. It leads into the Grünwald Valley . After a light ascent we reach Grünwaldalm and then the refuge Jägerhütte. The ascent to Hochalpenhütten, the most strenuous part of the tour, begins at this point. The walk from Pragser Wildsee to this point takes around three hours. Now we follow the broader trail, which leads us to a covered shelter. There we take the trail which forks off on the right and walk over a small crest to Hochalpensee. We take the same trail to walk back. Experienced hikers can continue the tour on trail n. 6 across Lapadüresscharte. From there a trail (marking 61) leads past Mauerkopf down to Kaseralm. The trail n. 20 then leads back to Pragser Wildsee.

Walking time: hours
Difference in altitude: 800 m
Difficulty: easy

Suggestion 3: Toblacher See (1,258 m) - Trogerhöfe - Trogeralm (1631 m) - Suesriedl (2,013 m) - Sarlsattel (2,230 m) - Sarlkofel (2,378 m) - Sarlhütte (1,720 m) - Toblacher See (1,258 m)
Map to the suggestion This tour can be started at different points around Toblach: Toblacher See, Sägehäuser or the river Rienz near Toblach.
From all three starting points we can walk to Trogerhöfe through pastures and forests. We then take trail n.16 to Trogeralm (1,631 m) which is situated at the border of the nature park. Above Trogerhöfe, we can see Trogergraben, a point at which the different sedimentary strata are visible. After a rather steep ascent we reach Suesriedl (2,013 m) which is situated exactly underneath Sarlkofel. After a short walk on the trail marked 33, a steep ascent leads us to Sarlsattel (2,230 m). It takes around half an hour. From Sarlsattel we walk on to Sarlriedl (2,099 m). From there the trail on the left (marking 14) leads us back down to Sarltal and to the refuge Sarlhütte. We return to Toblacher See on a forestal road.

Walking time: 7 - 8 hours
Difference in altitude: 1.,100 m
Difficulty: medium, stamina needed

Suggestion 4: Gasthof Plätzwiese (1,991 m) - Gaiseleite - Obere Roß-Hütte (2,142 m) - Fossesriedl (2,332 m) - Seekofelhütte (2,327 m) - Fossessee (2,142 m) - Socroda - Lerosascharte (1,995 m) - Rufiedosee (1,504 m) - Knappenfußtal - Gasthof Plätzwiese (1,991 m)
Map to the suggestion The starting point is the restaurant Plätzwiese, located near the last stop of the bus line from Brückele. We take trail n. 3 to the bottom of Plätzwiese, cross the rivulet which comes down from the eastern corrie of the glacier Hohe Gaisl, and then start walking towards Gumpalböden.

We follow the trail leading across the corries of Hohe Gaisl, Schlechtgaisl and Kleine Gaisl to the beautiful sink of Rossalm. Trail n. 3 then leads around the northern hill of Rote Wand, where the sedimentary strata of the rock are clearly visible, to "Campo Latino". We take the trail which forks off on the left (marking 28) and reach the broad saddle of Fossenriedl.
Staying on the same trail (marking 28) we take a short walk along the eastern ridge of Ofenmauer to Seekofelhütte. Hikers with enough stamina can ascend to Seekofel (2,810 m).

We then take trail n. 26 which leads to the lake basin of Fossenseen and over a small saddle to the Rotwandsee basin near "Crosc del Grisc". The descent on the forestal road of Gotrestal (marking 8) is easy and comfortable and leads to the country road near the locality Rufiedo. We cross this road and continue along the old railroad track for around one kilometer (marking 208) to Gemärk.
